Having announced earlier in the week that New New Labour was starting with a blank page, which could be interpreted in so many different ways, yesterday Ed Miliband asked the public to suggest new ideas for Labour Party (#freshideas on Twitter), but this in itself is not a new idea. Asking the public for their ideas was actually done by the Coalition Government earlier this year, albeit only about laws we want scrapped, as well as others in the past.
From the Independent today (Miliband turns to Twitter to fill in policy blank sheet)
Non-party members are to be given a say in Labour’s policy and leadership under radical reforms unveiled by Ed Miliband. The Labour leader warned his party that it could no longer be a closed shop of constituency members or union levy payers but had to become “rooted” in local communities. He launched a new slogan – “New politics, fresh ideas” – and urged the public to submit policy suggestions online.
So now we can all have a say on Labour Party policies!!!
That obviously includes Lib Dem’s as well, so over to you…
